Early digiscoping results

Black headed Gull

Here are a couple of shots I am quite pleased with from my new digiscoping setup. They were taken at Ferry Meadows CP the weekend before last. I found some stuff on the web about digiscoping settings for the Coolpix 4500 and wanted to try some of them out. These were taken with the Coolpix set to Aperture priority and Single AF/Macro mode with the exposure set to -0.7EV so that they underexposed a bit. This can then be corrected (as here) in post processing, but avoids the whites tending to be over-exposed and losing all detail - which is what tends to happen if the camera is left to its its own devices.

Here is an example taken at the same time and place with the EV setting at its default (0.0EV). The white breast of the Great Crested Grebe is over-exposed and lacks any detail.
